Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in trying to “Prove” ourselves to others that we lose “The Why” in what we are doing.  Let me say that again, If we spend all our time trying to stand up for ourselves when someone is trying to bring us down, then we are losing precious time that we could be serving the Lord and we are losing precious time in our relationship with God.

If you feel that you are doing what is right by God, whether it be standing up for a cause, taking a certain action to serve, or even sharing the gospel, then don’t spend your time trying to prove to people that what you’re doing is right.

Two important questions you need to ask yourself:

  1. Are you good with God and are you trying to follow His directions?
  2. Isn’t it really just Satan coming against you because he knows he can distract you so you will not accomplish what God is leading you to do?

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10)

If you are not good with God about what you are doing then start there. Once you are good with God about what you need to be doing then stop letting Satan bring you down.  Stay focused on what God wants because that is the only one we need to prove ourselves to.

Satan uses people to bring us down in lots of different ways.  He uses people to distract us so we will not accomplish what God wants us to do.  But this might bring out anger, resentment, and frustration if you are trying to prove yourself to people.  This is what affects our hearts!  We can’t serve God with a heart full of those things.

“But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.” (1 Thessalonians 2:4)

Dear Lord, help us to see that proving ourselves to people is not from You.  We need to only please You.  Help us to look in our hearts and see what is distracting us from You and Your calling on our lives. Thank you Lord for Your mercy and Your grace as we do our best to follow You!  Amen!

Have a blessed day living for God!

With love,

Lisa
